Kite Beach in Jumeirah is Dubai's most active and beloved public beach - a wide sweep of pristine white sand named for the kitesurfers who ride the Gulf winds offshore. Beyond watching the aerial acrobatics, the beach offers free outdoor fitness equipment, a full outdoor gym, beach volleyball and basketball courts, a skate park, and a strip of casual food trucks that constitute one of the better outdoor eating stretches in the city. The Burj Al Arab stands prominently just along the coastline. Kite Beach is best in the cooler months (October to April) when the outdoor gym and running track fill from dawn with residents treating it as a genuine sports facility. Arrive by 7am on weekdays for the calm before the crowds. The food truck strip near the car park is worth a stop in its own right - the coffee and breakfast options are consistently good. One of the most genuinely community-feeling public spaces in Dubai.
