Alserkal Avenue is Dubai's most interesting shopping destination for people who find malls tedious - a converted industrial warehouse district in Al Quoz housing an expanding ecosystem of independent concept stores alongside the galleries. Ripe, Dubai's flagship organic market and concept store, is here. So is a proper independent bookshop, a Japanese lifestyle and ceramics boutique, a sustainable fashion outlet, and a vintage clothing edit. Weekend market events (usually Fridays in season) bring additional independent sellers to the courtyard. Everything here is considered, curated and difficult to find anywhere else in the city.
