Dubai Creek Walk & Promenade

9.2(261 reviews)

Bur Dubai · 51 3b St - Al Fahidi - Dubai - United Arab Emirates

Walk Dubai Creek's ancient waterfront, dhows, fish markets and old-Dubai atmosphere, completely free.

The Dubai Creek waterfront promenade is one of the great free walks in the city - a long stretch of corniche between Bur Dubai and Deira where wooden dhows still load and unload cargo as they have for generations. The morning is particularly atmospheric: fishermen selling the night's catch at the creek-side market, abras puttering across the water, and the wind-tower silhouettes of Al Fahidi rising above the opposite bank. A genuine window into Dubai's pre-skyscraper soul. Start the walk near the Al Seef district for the most restored stretch, then continue towards the abra stations where the creek activity is most concentrated. Golden hour and the hours after sunset are both excellent - the creek reflects the lights of Deira and Bur Dubai beautifully. The AED 1 abra crossing to the opposite bank is the natural endpoint. Allow ninety minutes for a leisurely walk with stops.

Great fun in these Abras! We went across the creek to go to the Souk! The boats are old but they have character!...

03What can I see along the Dubai Creek Walk?
The promenade passes the Bur Dubai Abra Station, restored heritage buildings, traditional dhow repair yards, the Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House museum, and connects to the Al Shindagha Heritage District. Allow 1–2 hours for a leisurely walk.
