Dubai Ice Rink is the full-size Olympic standard ice rink inside Dubai Mall - one of the most incongruous and enjoyable experiences the city offers. The 60 x 30 metre surface accommodates public skating sessions alongside figure skating classes, ice hockey leagues, and the occasional curling session. Skate hire is available at the rink, and the sessions are well-managed with separate lanes for beginners and more confident skaters. Pricing is reasonable: a public skating session with skate hire runs AED 80–120 depending on peak/off-peak. Sessions are 90 minutes and the ice quality is maintained well throughout. The rink is a genuine spectacle - watching Dubai residents in short sleeves pick up ice skating is a particular pleasure - and the surrounding mall context means there are good dining and café options to bookend the session. Best visited on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning when the session is half-full and significantly more relaxed than weekend crowds.
