Ski Dubai is the Middle East's first indoor ski resort - 22,500 square metres of real snow inside a mall, maintained at −4°C while it's 38°C outside. Five runs of varying difficulty serve beginner slopes through to an 85-metre drop 'Super Pipe', and the Snow Park section caters to non-skiers with tobogganing, snowball zones and the famous King and Queen penguin parade where you can hold a penguin (genuinely one of Dubai's most surreal experiences). The ski school is accredited and instructors are patient with beginners. Full equipment rental is available. It's expensive and distinctly weird, which is arguably the whole point.
