Dubai built the skyline; the rooftop bars are where you collect on it. The city does high-altitude drinking better than almost anywhere - the only real question is which view you want: the Burj Khalifa filling the frame, the Palm spread out beneath you, or the Marina glittering on all sides.
Ten rooftops earn a place, scored from real review data. A summer note from experience: from June to September the smart move is the indoor bar beside the view until about 7pm, then the terrace once the heat lifts - the views do not clock off.

The Penthouse
The Penthouse at Five Palm Jumeirah owns the most complete panorama in the city - Palm, Marina skyline and open sea in one slow turn of the head. It is a proper party rooftop too, but arrive at sunset and the view briefly silences even the DJ.
The Insider Move
The outdoor terrace is at its best October to April - in summer, take the indoor bar at golden hour and move out after dark.

Cé La Vi Dubai
Cé La Vi sits on the 54th floor of Address Sky View with the Burj Khalifa close enough to feel personal. Every table faces the icon; the cocktails and the infinity-pool deck do their best to compete and sensibly settle for second.
The Insider Move
Arrive before sunset to claim outdoor seating - the tower lighting up at dusk is the whole show.

SkyView Bar
SkyView Bar puts you 27 floors up inside the Burj Al Arab itself - gold fittings, Gulf views and the rare angle where the city's most famous silhouette is the one thing you cannot see, because you are in it. Book ahead; entry is by reservation only.
The Insider Move
Book the sunset slot well in advance - it is the single most requested table in the building.

The Rooftop at Jumeirah Al Naseem
The Rooftop at Jumeirah Al Naseem trades altitude for proximity - a beach-resort rooftop where the Burj Al Arab rises straight out of the water in front of you. Glamorous without a velvet rope attitude.
The Insider Move
Fridays and Saturdays from 8pm are the lively window - go midweek for the quiet, cinematic version.

Pure Sky Lounge
Pure Sky Lounge on the Hilton's 35th floor delivers the definitive Marina-and-Palm postcard - the towers on one side, the fronds and sea on the other. It leans lounge rather than party, which makes it the conversation-friendly choice.
The Insider Move
The 6 to 8pm sundowner window over the Palm is the reason this floor exists - book it, do not walk in.

Asia Asia
Asia Asia hangs over the Marina walk with lantern-lit, spice-route theatrics and cocktails built for the setting. The rooftop terrace catches the Marina at its glittering best, and the Pan-Asian kitchen is better than a bar needs.
The Insider Move
Happy hour runs until 8pm - arrive for it, take the terrace rail seats and stay past dark.

Iris
Iris at Meydan is the open-air rooftop as party venue - full skyline backdrop, DJs who build the night properly and a crowd that arrives for sundowners and stays until close. The distance from Downtown is the price of the uninterrupted view.
The Insider Move
Book a table on the pool-deck side for the best sightlines - and arrive before 10pm to get your bearings while it is still calm.

Folie
Folie crowns the ME Dubai with Business Bay's best canal views and a fashionable crowd that dresses for the room. The cocktails are genuinely creative rather than decorative, which is rarer up high than it should be.
The Insider Move
Sunset over the canal is the moment - 6 to 8pm on a weekday is the relaxed version, weekends need a booking.

Treehouse
Treehouse at SLS Dubai is the rooftop for people who find rooftops a bit much - a high terrace wrapped in real foliage with the Burj Khalifa poking through the greenery. Charm over spectacle, and all the better for it.
The Insider Move
Golden hour peaks around 6pm and the happy-hour window makes it the best-value sundowner in Business Bay.

Lock, Stock & Barrel
Lock, Stock & Barrel is the rooftop stripped of pretension - JBR's best-loved sports bar happens to sit on a roof, so the craft beer and live sport come with a skyline. When the group wants a rooftop but not a dress code, this is the answer.
The Insider Move
Happy hour makes the 5 to 8pm window the best value on the JBR rooftops - the golden-hour crowd peaks around 6.
